Hey everyone! I am Courtney. I didn't plan on becoming a photographer. I always loved taking pictures for my own personal benefit and use. When one of my coworkers asked me to take her engagement photos about a year and a half ago... I was sort of shocked. However, that started everything and from that point on people started asking me to take pictures for them. I wasn't even marketing (and am still not, other than having a blog).

I started out with the Nikon D40 (which was sold to Claire) and upgraded to the D90. Someday I'd like something more "professional" like the D700 or something. Who knows... but I have a lot more other equipment I need to purchase before that day comes. I have the SB-800 flash. I have the 50mm/1.8 and the two kit lenses that came with the camera (18-55 and 55-200mm). I want about 4 other lenses... but I need to start making more money with photography first.

Things are a little slow going now because I had a sweet little baby boy born on June 30th.

The business I get now is mainly family sessions (I also do weddings, seniors, etc). The business that I WANT to get is birth photography. It is my passion. I love birth and think it is the most beautiful thing. I am also hoping to become trained as a doula someday. I am slowly starting to market to this more (Claire, I am planning on emailing you back about your question). Birth Story photography is what I really want to be known for.
